Optimization Leader Irv Lustig Honored with INFORMS Volunteer Service Award

PRINCETON, NJ, Oct. 26, 2017 – Princeton Consultants Optimization Principal Dr. Irv Lustig (left in photo) received the INFORMS 2017 Volunteer Service Award for Distinguished Service during the association’s Annual Meeting on Oct. 24 in Houston.

The annual award recognizes members who have been engaged in volunteer service during the past year and whose contributions have had an impact in the area they serve. As a member for over 30 years, Dr. Lustig has helped INFORMS build on its standing as the leading international association for professionals in Operations Research and Analytics, and adapt its programs and messaging to the changing technological landscape. In the past year, Dr. Lustig has led a project to create a collection of video interviews of trailblazers in Operations Research as part of the INFORMS History and Traditions committee, served as a member of the INFORMS Edelman Award committee as well as a coach for a team in the competition, and served on other INFORMS committees. Over the years, Dr. Lustig has provided key inputs to the INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional accreditation program, chaired the INFORMS Computing Society, served as an Associate Editor for the journal Operations Research, and was on the board for the INFORMS Roundtable.

At Princeton Consultants, Dr. Lustig helps organizations transform decision-making through advanced analytics. He leads the development and implementation of custom optimization-powered systems, advises executives about technical and business aspects of optimization, and conducts quality assurance reviews of clients’ models.

Dr. Lustig received Sc.B. and Sc.M. degrees in Applied Mathematics/Computer Science from Brown University in 1983 and a Ph.D. in Operations Research from Stanford University in 1987. He has authored more than 30 articles and scientific papers and received the Beale-Orchard Hayes prize for excellence in computational mathematical programming.
