Ben joins us this March from Columbia University, where he earned his MS/BS in Electrical Engineering and graduated magna cum laude. While at graduate school, Ben worked at an Internet of Things start-up company, serving as an analyst and an ambassador to organize events regarding smart cities, privacy and security. He co-founded MAKECU, a hardware hackathon now in its third year of inspiring future engineers to create new things or repurpose existing hardware for new applications. At Columbia Ben participated in a street parking and recommendation initiative, as well as a subway monitoring program to discover behavior trends and find optimal trips based on raw data. He was a Laboratory Teaching Assistant for classes on digital systems, electronic circuits and circuit analysis. In his spare time, Ben coaches and plays Ultimate Frisbee in New York City.
