For more than 30 years, Dr. Irv Lustig has been an internationally recognized trailblazer in Operations Research and Advanced Analytics. In 2014, Irv joined Princeton Consultants to focus on transforming business decision-making through the implementation of advanced analytics and optimization.

Irv started his career at Princeton University as an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering and Operations Research from 1987-1993. He left academia to join CPLEX Optimization Inc., a software start-up creating and selling commercial optimization tools that quickly became the industry leader. In 1997 CPLEX was acquired by ILOG, and Irv led or managed Technical Services, Product Management, and ILOG Direct. In 2008 ILOG was acquired by IBM and Irv continued to expand his career as a leader on both the product and sales sides and, most recently, for IBM Research investigating and developing state-of-the-art approaches for the next generation of optimization/business integration.

Irv is a longtime active member of INFORMS, serving as a committee member for certification exam review, History and Traditions, and the INFORMS Roundtable. He chaired the INFORMS Computing Society, and he has been an associate editor of the journals, Operations Research and Mathematical Programming.

While at Princeton University, Irv won the Beale-Orchard-Hays Prize for Excellence in Computational Mathematical Programming. He has authored more than 30 articles and scientific papers. Irv earned his Ph.D in Operations Research at Stanford University, where his advisor was George Dantzig, the “father” of linear programming. He earned his Sc.M and Sc.B. in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science at Brown University.
